This was very informative to me and I believe to all employees, especially how it's easy to do the wrong thing without intentionally do it. These guidlines help you to stay on the right path and to be aware of what not to do.

Its good to know what you are doing in the field your in. I'm a Financial Aid officer and it's important to know what you are explaining to a student. It makes the student confident on making the decision to enroll.

Where I was from you had schools bad mouth the others to get a student enrolled. It's unprofessional and it makes you look just as bad.

I think it's very important to go by guidelines for the reason not only you're putting yourself at risk, but you are putting the school at risk. It's easy for someone to accidently say the wrong thing.

I lived in San Antonio and the media exploited news about Financial Aid. At a certain campus an undercover reporter posed as a potential student and went through the enrollment process. The reporter had a finacial aid officer coached on what to say to receive pell. I think maybe the financial aid officer tried to help the student as much as he or she can, but said too much information to where it look like the financial aid was coaching the potential student.
