A part of being a responsible student and someday employee is learning how to deal with childcare, financial and other challenges, and learning to be able to either plan ahead or catch-up quickly on things missed.  They will run in to some of the same challenges after they enter the workforce so it's important for us as teachers and administrators to have detailed guidelines when it comes to make-up work and continue to follow those standards.
