There are times when I feel overwhelmed by the last minute tasks assigned on a weekly basis. I don't understand why people procrastinate and then expect everyone else to jump through hoops. I can sometimes understand an occasional change coming down that needs to take place immediately, but not on a regular basis. That stresses me out the most. If I procrastinate about something I have to do then I must suffer the consequences, but if someone else procrastinate and get the information down to me at the last minute and expect great and wonderful things to happen I get… >>>

I have found that I waste a lot of time in my personal life as well as my career. I have learned so many new concepts to help me to improve in these areas.

I believe that retention is everybody's job not just the instructors. It seems that the instructor is the only one that seems to get in trouble with retention. I think that is so unfair.

I believe that we don't have the time for some of these strategies especially if we are adjunct instructors. It may be better for us to refer the student to the director of their department who may be better able to refer the student to the proper agency.

I have found that most students are comitted to their education, they do not know how to deal with the issues of life. They believe they can't focus on too many things at one time. Some of them do need to drop out for a short time frame. I think that the instructors tend to go out of their way to help the students stay in school and I commend them for that.

What happens when an instructor's retention rate is always above 90%, but still have to attend retention training? I have found this to be a big problem some institutions. There should be something better to measure us by so that we can not do this over and over again.

If a student believes they are being lied to, they will drop out. Instructors spend a lot of time trying to teach and retain students. If the student finds out that FA or the recruiters lied to them, no matter what the instructor says the student will leave. The retention rate also falls back on the instructor.

I believe that students should be aware of the fact that they may not have the financial aid to cover all of their courses during certain terms. If there is not enough FA to pay for their courses, the student should be made aware. They should not have to find out during the middle of the term that they owe the school funds for taking more classes then they have FA to cover.

Students should never be under the impression that any school will lead to job placement directly after graduation. Six-months is the standard time the organization has for job placement, but students should also be aware that they cannot keep turning down jobs until the so-called right one comes along. The main selling point for most of the career schools is their job placement program. Don't ever lie to students. Just give them the correct information and allow them to come to their own conclusion and make the right decision for themselves.
