It will be important to monitor student involvement closely in ELA, because higher level students will naturally produce more language output than lower levels. Lower level students may feel intimidated or discouraged by that.

I feel like I would have a more engagement from my ELA learners than a traditional class. They are generally very excited to learn and participate.

I like the idea of short student biographies, but have found that students sometimes give the bare minimun or even lie on them.

I need to get a better grasp on the online learning platform of the college I teach at.

I like the method of thinking how I would communicate/evaluate the information in my face-to-face class, and then choosing online options that match my teaching style.

I agree feedback is very important, especially when not face-to-face. In a traditional classroom, you can guage understanding sometimes even from facial expression. Online, it's important to answer questions and clarity promptly and give quick, effective feedback before a student becomes lost or frustrated.

I think it's most important to clearly communicate the class structure to your students, whether synchonous or asynchronous. It's funny that it says synchronous is used least often. I've seen much more of this since quarantine.

I have learned a variety of online teaching options and teaching styles, what the can accomplish and why I might choose to use them in my virtual classroom. It was good to think about. I generally just use whatever the supervisor suggests. But as we enter this new way of life, it will be good to conform the setting more to my liking and teaching style.
