I this module, I learned about some methods that help engage online learners. I usually arrange synchronous sessions (or one-to-one meetings) to go over the assignments and answer any questions the students might have related the weekly assignments. I regularly provide feedback and ask the students to provide feedback about the course, as well.

Recognizing learning challenges is very important in teaching process. These challenges include learning disabilities that refer to difficulties to process information.  Also issues with comprehension, application of content, etc. I usually work with student services department where I get help and suggestion on how to accommodate students with disabilities. Being a multilingual person myself, I think it is very important that we encourage students to access their mother tongue when they learn a new language since it helps them to earn easier.  As a matter of fact, being multilingual, helps students to process several languages that helps their brain development.  According to studies from Penn State University. students’ cognitive ability increases due to bilingualism. Language and literacy are interdependent.  Literacy is the ability to use the language. This is something to keep in mind and focus on all students regardless  their linguistic background.

Current events make this portion of the module extremely important.  Recognizing social culture as differences in peoples’ preferences, characteristics and habits is very important in classrooms. Awareness of race differences should be done very carefully since this term minimizes the full potential of students. This is just focusing on external characteristics that has nothing to do with learning process. Creating respectful and inclusive environment should be main goal for instructors. What I learned from this module is very important for me as an instuctor wh teached in a direse environement of LA campus. 

The term diversity refers to differences in race, gender, and sexual orientation. It is very important to consider. There are several theories related to understanding diversity. Th Schema theory implies on the assumption that every person thinks and acts through their own specific schema. Consideration of diversity is a very important aspect of learning. Evaluation for Internship includes very important component, which is interpersonal skills, and oral communications. This will help the student intern to picture the future career and make plans accordingly. Professional feedbacks by the supervisors are fundamental for interns. The final evaluation of internship should include students’ progress, ability to learn, attitude, and attendance. 

On-campus and on-site supervisors need to communicate to effectively guide the internship process for students. This communication includes visiting the students on site, work closely with the on-site supervisor and the student in case there are problems with a student. The on-site supervisor needs to be very organized. Clearly explain the intern the responsibilities, set up specific time to meet with intern, encourage and provide help. To start the internship, it is important to have contract signed between the student and supervisor. This will be great way to specify job responsibilities and policies for both sides. Another good idea is to keep communications open to ensure that expectations are met.  Both student-intern and the supervisor should keep journals to document the work done and the hours worked.

It is big responsibility to be an internship supervisor. Considering paying the interns is an effective way to keep intern students more accountable. It is important that the supervisor introduces the intern to the employees of the workplace to help the intern student develop better skills working in the environment of employees.

In this section I learned about experiential learning, which is a student-centered way to provide educational experience to students outside of on-ground classroom experience. This will include field experience and/or internship for students.

This is type of leaning that will improve students’ opportunities for job skills, human relations skills, etc. Students have opportunity to practice early employment experiences whatever their future jobs will require.  This will be a great carrier development opportunity or students while in school.
