Depending on the subject matter groups are not always the best method of Instruction. Ron I teach typing.
I have taught at a College, Academy and Technology school. I noticed that the majority of students do not read the materials before class. At a Technology school one students said that is your job. Am I the only one that has this problem? I once had a Dean tell me to give students a pop quiz and they will start reading the chapters, you should have seen my student reviews for that class. Ron

For a Technology School, pre-testing adults is a touchy situation. If the pre-tests are too hard then you will loose a prospective student. If the pre-tests are too easy they may be setting them up for failure. Ron
When I teach I use Power Points, Videos, Hands-on and some lecture with a lots of example scenerios. I feel the more methods you use the better the chances of a student retaining the information. Ron

I think that teaching adults is much harder than K12 students. Adults want value for their education and it is hard to tell adults what to do, you must guided them. Ron

I always tell my students on the first day of class my academic credentials and my experiences. I feel that students should know their Instructors experience in their fields of expertise.

One of the ways that I have noticed some Instructors use in college is to use 2 tests in testing, each one with the questions arranged in a different order. That way students cannot look at another student's test next to them for answers.
I have a variety of small foam rubber objects that I toss around in class to the students to get them energized after a complex topic. Thanks
