You can have all types of stressors, at work and at home. Stressors at work can be Management, coworkers and students. After 20+ years and a Pacemaker I have found different ways to deal with stressors, the one that I use the most is writing down the stressor on paper then put it in the trash can, when it comes up I remind myself that I trash it and that it no longer exist.
I think what is needed is a venting room, that what ever is said in that room we are not held for what we may have said. This I think would releave some big stress.
For me the greatest obstacle to good time management is with immediacy. Trying to deal with everything all at once causes you to work longer and make mistakes. I find that not all immediacy is now and that it sometimes only immediacy is in the others minds. This would say that the other person may have pore time management and not you.
Expectations that I have for my students: 1. Be on time (relate this how this would be on the job) 2. Ask questions 3. Be a professional (this would dress, communication, ex.) 4. Have a positive attitude Expectations for me: 1. Be on time (before class starts) 2. Able to answer questions, if not know where to get the answer 3. Will push students hard in lab and class (I have seen many students not realize that they can be successful in what they do) 4. Open the lines for communication (give the students email address, web address for study).
I think there is a close parallel between class and business management. One is that in education there is emphasis on learning, developing skills and preparation. In a business environment you are learning every day, developing skills and preparation for the days work. Successful business manager will be able to manage employees effectively by setting standards, goals and be able to help employees reach the goals. In education it would be the same.

Asking the students how long they have been they been at the school. Based on the outcome of this question I would know how long to make the orientation process to be. I have found in some cases that some students will not come the first day of class because they know that will be orientation. In order to combat this type of situation have instituted a lab sheet that is due on the first day, this helps eliminate most of those issues. I post the hours of all of our departments and how to get tutoring then give them… >>>

It goes two ways, one is, retention = perceived value / cost and the other would be retention = reality value / cost. As educators we would have to take the perceived values that the student would have been made in reality values. Issues with bills, housing, spending money, jobs and car repairs are all reality values that students have. As educators we should be able to give the students the majority of the tools to overcome these reality values. I try to give my students different alternatives on how to resolve some of the reality that they face on… >>>

External, Mystery I have seen some of these students in the external sources of motivation like family members, family members that own a shop. The student wants to make someone proud of their efforts. Mystery Students in this group are a mystery as to what motivates them. They don't fall within the more traditional categories of motivation and yet they are focused on the target of course completion.
Teaching Electrical diagnosis will take both cognitive and tactile skills. Electrical diagnosis is one of the most difficult for students to get through. In most of my classes I will have students that have a problem with there car and have the other students get diagrams and we work on them in class. Once the students have done this a few time they get the how-too and are able to work on other cars.
The instructor needs to listens to the students concerns and guide the student on how to overcome obstacles of the assignments but as well help give some guidance in life. The success of assignments will as well give the student self confidence to do well in overcoming obstacles in life.
