Marta, Personal Information is collected by a school for specific use. When personal information is used outside of that use it is a violation of FERPA rules. Colleges have been sued many times over misuse of personal information. Students and parents trust schools to use their information only for the stated use and to safeguard the information to prevent inadvertent release to unauthorized people. When a file is left out for others to see or a conversation is overheard in the hallway that contained student personal information, the students trust has been violated. Zsolt, I understand what you are saying. Perhaps the best way of looking at transparency is that it maximizes the opportunity of the prospective student to make the best decision. Of course not providing the transparency or disclosures would ensure a large number of prospective students would more than likely be digruntled and have specific instances to base their complaints. Ronda,the difficulty with your statement is that most students fail to ask the questions necessary to see if the training fits their needs. A professional understands this and provides the informatiuon without being asked. Admissions scripts and disclosures have been designed to do just that.
