i give make up tests at the end of the course (3 weeks). all makes up are given at one time and than graded. i use a different test for make ups but it covers the material equally. the make up tset can be a test that is also use for regular testing but not the test i used this course.

back up plans

you will need a back up plan for your course and or lesson to cover unfore seen events. Ex. a fire alarm rings, an unschedule meeting, an unexpected visitor. without a back up plan to cover these event your class will suffer a loss of continunity.

backup plans for all courses

you should always have a back up plan for any course or lesson that you are instructing. there can be many outside interruptions that will lead to a change in your lesson for the day. EX. a fire alarm, an unscheduled meeting for instructors and or students. you will need a plan to cover these ocassions.

powerpoint

powerpoint is very easy way of poviding a good presentation. It can be changed to fit the individuals that you are instucting to fit their need to know.

Field trips

fields trip can be very benificial to the students if you as an instuctor prepare your student as to what they should get out the trip. just showing up at a facility and walking around for awhile and not having an agend as to the reason for the trip is just a waist of everyones time and money.

visitors

visitors to your class are a benifit to your class if you pick a good interesting person. He/she should have an interest in the field you are instucting. they can motivate students to do better, if they give the students an idea of what is expected of them in their future careers.

new instructor mistakes.

Most mistakes that new instuctors make are do to nerves. His/her timing is going to be off because of nerves. He or she will cover material at a very fast pace and could run out of prepared material before the end of the day. With proper supervision this could be avoided.

Most new instructor's mistakes can be minimized with good pretraining. this should include teaching infront of a class. the newbe should do just a small lesson at first. This will allow him to become conforable in front of a class. Good supervision during his/her training will benifit the instructor and his students.

cheating students

I will use mixed test to control cheating. the students all answer the same questions, just in different order. The test is fair to all but the cheaters.
