Since I am an instructor, most of the topics discussed were not pertinent to my position. However, I think that it is good to have this training under my belt in an effort to make my students more aware of thier rights. Most of the complaints I hear where I teach revolve around admissions and financial aid. So, in all, I am pleased with this training and look forward to the next training session, no matter what the content.

I agree. This was a great course. I am learning so much here. I especially like the idea of pre-testing. I wish I had heard about that a bit sooner. It could have helped this semester. I guarantee I will be doing that next semester though. Thanks Max Knowledge!!

Well thank you for the advice. I appreciate it. And I agree with you. I always used to say, you learn something new every day. And you should strive to do that. New found knowledge can always be valuable. If not at that present time, sometime down the road. I think that this is not really a problem anymore. I must have taught that particular student something new and they lost that attitude totally. We'll see how the rest of the semester goes. Thanks again!
That sounds ok too. I will have to decide which to make negotiated and which to make suggested. But that sounds like it would work also. Thanks for the suggestion! I am getting so much helpful advice and suggestions on here I can't thank people enough.
Well that sounds ok. That might be the option I am looking for. I may have to try that this semester. Thanks for the info!
Well that certainly is good advice too. I think that is a great idea. Some of our syllabi are laid out in a weekly manner so maybe I will make a calendar based from that pointing out daily assignments instead of weekly ones. Thanks again for the tip.

I agree also. I am new to teaching and this course helped me out tremendously. So many of the areas they covered, I have experienced in my first two semesters of teaching. Covering the course subject matter is the easy part for me given my field experience. It's all this other stuff like dealing with quiet students that I need help with and this course did that perfectly. I look forward to the future classes I will be taking as I'm sure they will help me out as well. Thanks Max Knowledge!

How would you suggest dealing with students who are already working in their field of study and have the attitude that they know more than the instructor or that school is a waste of their time because they aren't learning anything new?
Well I certainly do agree with that. Thank you very much for the advice. I'm starting this week. They have 3 assignments due so I will see how it goes. Thanks again!
I am fairly new to teaching and have a tendency to let my students slide on late assignments because they work full time jobs. They work some weekends and all different kinds of shifts so I try to schedule assignments for when I think they would have the most time to do them. But they have other classes also, not just mine. Would anyone have any advice for how to be more strict as far as assignment deadlines without being the stern instructor nobody likes?
