procrastination is easier to engage in when the coursework is self-directed, so it is important to be in constant communication with students who appear to procrastinate/ not participate.

 

It is important to compensate for the absence of nonverbals in online discussions. 

 

I like the idea of adding a bio and asking students to do the same in order to preject presence and create a sense of community.

 

Some students do not like to ask technical questions in an online learning class out of fear of seeming "dumb." It is important to make sure students know how to navigate the CMS. 

 

Varying delivery of content is essential to reach all types of learners.

 

Learning student names as well as any nicknames or alternate names that they prefer is important in making them feel confortable in the classroom.

 

Clear and specific instructional objectives are necessary. I plan to improve how I write my instructional objectives to include the 4 components: audience, behavior, condition, and degree.

 

Leading by example goes beyond modeling course content and assignments. Modeling soft skills is just as important.
