I'm comfortable and agree with providing median loan debt to prospective students. My question: is this median amount calculated based upon loan debt for the direct costs of the education or does it also include the debt taken as living expenses above the direct costs? Including the additional loan debt due to living expenses, in my opinion, could be skewed because often a student can finish the program with less debt if they refrain from taking any additional loans other than what they need for direct costs (tuition, books/supplies, and fees).
