Ryan I am glad you brought this up. This posting isn’t about the rules which we are all aware need some revisions. Instead it’s about how we serve our student better and get down to the root of the issues or retention. I like the idea of some type internal phone system in the class. Good job little buddy.

Matt I understand that will always be a challenge. But the purpose of this particular dialog was to see what we can do and what we can affect.

Most of us would agree that UTI is a pretty special place for students and instructors, and that the members of the organization work hard at giving our students the best education and experience during their time with us. After reviewing modules 1-4, I am convinced that as a leaning institution we are doing all the right things and that we have a numerous programs to assist our students in being successful. So why do we still struggle with retention? Please add to this Brainstorming Box any new ideas or suggestions that you think might help our students achieve success.

Describe what types of early intervention methods you practice beyond the daily grades and attendance.

Describe what you currently do in your class to show your students you care about their progress and how you motivate them to persist on with the program.

Describe what should be the role of the instructor regarding retention and what practices do you use to positively impact this?

Describe the appropriate methods utilize to setup the class for success and a meaningfull experience.

Please describe appropriate methods of identifying and addressing class diversities and your approach to student needs.

How does a well planed learning environment affect the overall experience the student has in a course?

What do you think is an appropriate instructional style when modeling professionalism in the class and lab?
