Tom I understand the connection between the set expectations we have of them and their success. It is all important and part of what makes UTI different. I know that rules and procedures are being covered well. My question is how is it being perceived by the students and are we effective with our message to them? Maybe we ask the student what they heard and clarify from there.
Mark I like this idea and we have discussed it in the past, and time is the biggest challenge. But if any of you feel passionate about it then lest find a way to make it happen.
Mike I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to go through RT 101. Many departments are starting to ask about it. This education team has been excellent and lost of good has come from it. Thank you
I think you are on to something here. What I was thinking was a mini 4 question survey as part of the check out process once they are done with a visit to a department. 1. Was the representative knowledgeable? 2. Was the representative courteous? 3. Was your concern resolved? 4. Where you help in a timely manner?
Mr. Ko Well said. I remember a time when we use to operate as one unit. We need to find a way to get back to those positive dialogues where we as a team help the students, instead of every man for him self.
I will have to object here to some degree. What I believe happens is that some where along the way they loose focus as to why they are here and if we don’t positively reinforce them that they can do this, we will continue on this path of “this is not for you”. It sound like the change starts with us.
Paul You are right on. Often our students are unaware of all the different programs we have and it’s our job to constantly remind them. All of this should be covered in detail at the beginning of the course. Not just rules.
John A new letter is an excellent idea. As we build the student council one of the items is that they lead a student news letter.
Mike A student council is an excellent idea and it’s a project that is currently being lead by Sergio. We are looking for information and passionate individuals to be part of this project If you have ideas or suggestion or would like to be part of this please seek him out. Thanks Mike
James Sitting in others instructors classes is an excellent way to pick-up all kinds of good information and techniques. Unfortunately we are often limited on those types of opportunities. I would like to suggest that instructor sit and share more information with each other outside the class. Maybe establish some type of forum were you meet periodically to address concerns and find solutions with each other. I like how you are thinking.
