What is the best tactic to use when trying to determine if a student needs more involvement wether it be verbal, physical, written skills

I found that a good way to refocus my attention toward a class is to ask questions to random students throughout the lecture and let the students ponder an explaination as you continue teaching. when a student comes up with the answer have them stand up and give there explaination. Also it keeps the class involvement and attention on a specific goal. Is this the right thing to do or is it causing embarassment to the students.

throughout the years i have that when having students that learn at different rates. It is very important to find out what learning style will help the student get the most out of the class and break the cirriculum down into components that are comprable to the learning abillity. I you can take something that is very hard to explain and very technical the best bbet is to evaluate the classes knowledge and speak on there level. for example: don't use words that are over there head or if you do, explain those words so that they understand. As an instructor i deal with adult learners on a daily basis that feel that are inadequate due to there age due to lack of detailed knowledge on new technology. I realized that when you compare the new technology to what they are used to and give an explain they mre willing to listen and accept your response as being correct

more and more our students come through the door without a proper education. a proper back ground check should be performed at the front end to weed out some of these less qualified students. i fully understand the fact that this is a for profit organization but every day i see students that are not hirable and that could not be a benefit to a company. by having these ATB students on board at our campus we increase the failure rate because they cannot grasp the complicated concept with todays automobiles.
