Hi Gerard Since you have a program in place, what suggestions would you give Alessandra in developing orientation for her school? Do you include an orientation checklist? Are new instructors assigned a mentor? Are they given classroom management training? Are they adult learning styles training?

Hi Maureen Thanks for your comments. My experience had been similar to yours. I've also used Craigslist (craigslist.org) as a step between referrals and more expensive ads. There is a cost involved but less than a daily newspaper. The results, I thought, were better than newspapers but worse than a referral from a good employee.

Hi Alessandra Great comments. Faculty can have a key role in developing not only marketable skills, but also in developing basic skills such as punctuality, attendence and personal accountability. Do you consider personality or professional experience more important in hiring an instructor?

Hi Jamie I know this can be challenging. The instructors that provided the foundations for your KSAOs can be a great resource for you and great mentors for new instructors.
