I like the having more tools to be successful for the first day of class. I know for a fact that this sets the stage for a good block or semester class. I make it a point to learn their names asap.  I repeat their names numerous times through out the class and make it a fun challenge for my self. By day 2 end of class we review and I call each student out by their first name with there hands over their nametags on their jackets.

I am appreciative for the review and indepth description of all the areas of preparation and planning. I am appreciative of having a review point for all of this. I wish there was a way for me to down load this vital info as a packet versus having to download each page.  I too am a fan of the Syllabus and the guidlines that are set by reviewing it. I also love to have a note book or a white board handy at all time to write down things that come to me during class. It is very easy to… >>>

Continuing education is so important in this ever changing world. I am glad to see that there are many topics and procedures that I feel competent at but also many areas of needed improvement. This is a great self evaluation course to see where the areas are that we unintentionally neglect or forget to address.

I like using the CAT activities and short review of the classes I also need to implement the blooms taxonomy better. I wish their were more skills application tests to see if they are grasping the practical skills but those seem to b going into extinction.

Testing is important and this definitely gave me more insight on how to formulate a decent test.

It also gave my an idea about test banks that already possibly exist. These tools are great to have as an instructor that at times has classes of up to 26 people. I also appreciate the important suugestion of Clarity through proper word choice and question development. unclear questions creates confusion and doesn't focus on the gaol of testing.

Using questions to create a higher level of learning, I love it. This is a great tool to apply in so many ways beyond just general understanding. I have a lot of work to do because I often get the silence in the room so I have to work on asking better questions myself.

I also like the Socrates method and using questions to direct the discussion and keeping it on track

It is great for the school to conduct learning style assessments so that the teacher can have more insight to the students in their class.

I understand that this may also be on the individual teacher to assess but I believe this is a great way to connect with the individual students as well. How awesome would the experience be for a student who knows that the teacher is trying to give them content in their preferred learning style.

Everything has its place, after the basics are understood.  The use of technology and staying current with trends is key to being with the times. I like the ideas given to assist with ways to integrate projects or discussions in th eclass room. I also like the idea of students going to different volunteer events or restaurants to see if they are a good fit. This gives them hands on experiences that they can use to see where they would like to go. working in Europe fr 12 years has also given me the ability to speak about travel and… >>>

Senses of taste, where food comes from and possible contaminants, time management and open class discussion on taste help all students to become better at their trade. real life experiences and field trips can be so informative. I love to use the explanation of why is our Chefs jacket white? Its because we are in the hygiene business and the better we can keep our jacket clean the better our practices will be on our station. It also has to do with impressions. We all have 15 seconds to make an impression and when our jackets are messy and wrinkled… >>>

A Chef needs good writing skills, for menus letters of communication and recipes. They also need to understand math.  "Math is the language of business" not only for reipe accuracy but for all other aspects of a operation. in addition to these skills it is also important to understand people and thier diversity which comes from experience and studying behavior. All of this is part of what it takes to become a leader and the better we are in these areas plus so much more the better leaders we become.
