About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Pamela, Yes! Our students need as many think-out-of-the-box exercises as they can get. Being able to think critically is a plus. Patricia Scales
Hi Jason, Awesome activity to promote critical thinking. Students really have to put their brain to the test. This exercise really helps prepare students for the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Misty, You have it! Students will only play on your age if you allow them to do so. Make your presence known as a confident, knowledgeable, pepared, professional. I started in this industry when I was 23, and age was never an issue due to the way I carried myself. Patricia Scales
Hi Wayne, I like how you ease into getting quiet students involved. You start off easy and then move onto something a little more complex. Patricia Scales
Hi Jennifer, First of all, when students break one of your rules, you address the issue right then because it will only get worse. Great idea about the 2 versions to deter cheating. Patricia Scales
Hi Pamela, Great exercise to get students to think critically! Good situtation for students to be in to help prepare them for the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Bonnie, I have found that quiet students do a lot better in a smaller setting. Patricia Scales
Hi Cathy, Hold students accountable. In the workplace they are going to be held accountable. We should give our students a real dose as to how things are in the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Sheila, I have found that students really appreciate it when the instructor share examples. Students have a better understanding of the requirements after being shown an example. Patricia Scales
Hi Abayomi, Students better know what is expected of them when examples are shared. Patricia Scales
