I haven't found the need to refocus yet since I'm a new teacher.. I feel if I need to refocus perhaps teaching a new course every term will help me not feel this way

It's about the professor to try and retain the students. If he or she does all they can, than it's up to the student

Adult students

I don't find it difficult to teach to adult students compared to younger students.. As a teacher you need to be prepared for both.

Syllabus

When it comes to a syllabus I always prefer to write my own rather than going off of a generic syllabus. Has more meaning that way.. Just my 2 cents..
