About me

Activity

In class on a regular basis I ask the students, WHAT ARE YOU HERE FOR, I see what the response is and tell them your here for a reason and not to give up on their dreams.
It takes the organization as a whole to handle all the problems that arise. We as instructors can only handle certain things that come up, the rest of the time we can only interact by guiding the student to the appropriate department.
Is it all worth it? I tell my students yes it is if you put fourth the time and effort. Every school teachs different subjects, I tell them if you dedicate the time the outcome will be a rewarding one.
Discussion Comment
The entire staff as a whole is a big part of retention, we as instructors see our students for the most time as they are going to school so as an instuctor we need to make the class an enjoyable learning enviornment so we keep the students excited about learning, if this does not happen we get the academic boredom that was discussed in module 1.
The first day of class is intimidating for both the student as well as the instuctor, if you give them a cler view of what you expect of them things will lighten up.
I agree that meeting the class the first day is sometimes a scarry thought, after about 15 minutes I start to get comfortable and things start to flow. A course syllabus works very well also, no suprises.
I like to be prepared before going into class everyday, I feel lost if I have to rush and I am not prepared before class starts, the students know this and sometimes take advantage of this, it also makes the class flow smoother when you are prepared.
