About me

Activity

I agree, when you are moving around the class you can see and hear the strength and weakness of your students.

I find that playing some soft instrumental music, like soft Jazz during lab stimulates a positive learning enviroment.  Have anyone else used music during class?  If so what type of music and during what part of the class, and how did it affect the learning enviroment?

The majority of my class seems to be from Gen. Y and one student may be from Gen. X, with this new information I better understand my student. How ever, teaching strateies may have to very due to diversity of generations.  what learning style's would you suggest?

I write a quote on the board every day to motive the students.  One of my favorate is By Abraham Lincoln, "the best way to predict the future is to create it."  I believe that it takes courage to go to college and a little inspiration goes a long way.

I find that it is beneficial to have a prudent work habit, therefore you won't find youself in a compromising satuation.

Peer teaching is awesome.  I know that in lab, the students have to peer each other, but I give them guidence on how they should be peering.  This is to ensure  that when they are peering they know what they should be observing.

Discussion Comment

I agree that using the resourses that the students has available to them in  the class room is a way to enhance learning.

I find the students that are secure in their educational experience tend to be useful, helping their peers in small group activities.  This give that person the autonomy needed in the classroom setting and the other student that are not as secure the motivation from their peer.  This create a atmosphere conducive to learning and persevering to greatness.  As an Istructor I tend to write a positive quotes daily to encourage my student that they can and will reach their educational goal with motivation and action.

I tend to agree with bringing real life situations to the class room holds their attention.

This is a challange no matter what you teach.   Most Students lives are ran by their phone. I just remind my student that they do have a break ever so often and ask them to refrain from texting during class unless in emergent situation and even then they would need to step out the class to prevent disruption.
