    I have had students that have requested to meet with financial services before admissions to get a price of the programs without actually going through the GEP.  Normally it's pretty easy to take control and get these students on board with our process, but sometimes the student might be extremely persistent to the point of them getting angry.  I have seen with these types of students that a wall begins to go up with them and our refusal to do it "their way" only lends to their belief that "we might have shady practices".  I will generally tell a… >>>

   I'd have to agree with that statement... Working in admissions, it was a little hard to work it into our daily task list with all that we already do and with a start coming up.  However, I still found the information informative and I always welcome information that helps me to better serve the student and stay in compliance.

I am happy that our school does background checks not just for the initial safety for our employees and students, but also so that our students don't find out that they can't work in a particular career field (becuase of their background) after graduation. We should truly be here for the students. If we do the right things for the right reasons, then our reputation will soar and then the quality of our applicants and graduates will follow.

What types of information is offered to the graduating student as part of exit counseling? I assume it would be the total amount of debt due, a recap of interest rate, loan payment, duration of the loan, etc.

To a benevolent soul, much of the honesty and disclosure mandates seem like they would be common sense to follow. The fact that these guidelines are written, studied, and dispersed for compliance is proof of past abuses by some organizations. On a positive note, I found the information very easy to take in and read over because as I stated earlier, much of the information regarding honesty and disclosure seems like common sense.
