Kimberly, I like the idea of giving your students a chance to immediately apply the concepts that they learned during the lecture/lab demo. Also, providing the students with the lab topic is a great tool for encouraging to pay close attention to the lecture, because they will be using the concepts to complete their lab activity, later in the session. Cindy, I agree. Giving the students and opportunity to express their opinions, can proove to be a "teachable moment" for the instructor as well. Students can learn that their opinions are important and can be used as "change-causing" actions, within the classroom. Tremayne Simpson

Cecil, I have use used similar methods, when holding class discussions. In situations where you do not have time to ask questions, it is a good idea to create a discussion board on the student portal. This will allow them to continue the discussion outside online and you may also receive feedback from the students that choose to not participate in class. Tremayne Simpson

Lisa, This is an effective time management strategy for a four-hour course. I have taught courses similar to this format (4 hour block) and I found that it is important to provide an activity (for credit) at the beginning of the course, in order to encourage students to arrive on time. Mary, What presentation methods do you use to adhere to these learning styles, consistently each class session? Tremayne Simpson
jim, I agree with expanding the usage of student electronic devics, such as tablets. For copyright purposes, it is acceptable to provide your students with a link of desire "teaching video" (which they can access with their tablets) and the instructor will not have to play it in class. TONIA, This is an excellent suggestion. Is this an internet-based, interactive tool? Tremayne Simpson
Michelle, This is a great method for enhancing the learning experience for your students. In addition, visual learners will appreciate the detail in illustration and graphics on the instruction sheets. This could positively impact, the student retention of information. Tremayne Simpson

Joseph, I also use the "check off" method for the dry erase board agenda. Checking off each completed topic can help with time management and is a great tool, for recapping the class session. Tremayne Simpson
