Relating to students
I work at a emergency veterinary clinic and use a lot of examples and take pictures so the students get an idea of what they will experience after graduation. It is amazing how many students engage in the talks and ask questions about outcomes and what we did for the patient.

I agree with this, I work in culinary, and in order for students to truly digest a lot of the information, it has to be delivered in such a way that it becomes relevant. I find my students need to hear why they need to know the information in order to want to learn it.
Do you have any ideas for visuals that can be used in math instruction? I have seen crossword puzzles with arithmetic as questions and some examples from geometry. Using visual aids for algebra would be very helpful.

I work/teach in the legal field. I, too, use real life experiences taken from my practice to "make the law real". It seems to help the students better understand the lessons or messages we are trying to deliver. It puts the education into their language and frames of reference.

Dramatic visuals such as these can be quite inspiring. When students are "wowed" or touched by pictures, you've been able to reach inside, making that moment memorable. That's huge. Something important remembered is among the chief goals of teaching.
