Teaching Style
I had never really thought about my teaching style before. This section really gave me something to think about and reflect on. As well as giving me a direction to go in. I never reralized I was a statue instructor and I personally don't care for those types of instructors.
Ricardo,
Right -- we all have our uniqueness's and better traits that can be used to create a valuable learning experience. I think students prefer the true version of their instructor (vs. an artificial version of someone else).

I'm agree about your ideas. I recognize that every instructor or teacher has its own "personality" for teaching and can share the skills and experiences with the students.
My point is: If you feel comfortable with your knowledge and skills (you have good self-esteem) and you love teaching .... the class will be a mix of informative, funny, and interesting.
Victor,
Great! I admire instructors who are able to embrace students in a natural fashion. The attributes of being approachable and tolerate is really key to align with the variety of student types we get.

I too regularly adjust my teaching style. In point of fact, each class is different because the students are different.
That said, being authentic in my interactions with the students is critical. Knowing my strengths and being true to myself in delivering the material fosters communication.
Kevin,
Humor is usually a good "neutralizer" to get everyone on the same page. When we come across naturally, students are open to us much more than when we seem stiff, artificial, or unoriginal.

I'm constantly having to adjust my teaching style, I teach several different subjects at the trade school where I teach. I have to change my style to fit the class I'm teaching at the time. At the same time I always find a way to work in my humor and funny real life experiences to every class. This seems to make the students more relaxed and eager to learn more.
I agree as statue teachers are good at first, but students become less intrested.
George,
Great! I agree that when the instructor is relaxed, it helps calm the atmosphere, and creates a better setting for learning.

Teaching styles are different from person to person, Myself i have a teaching method that i use that relax's the students and makes it enjoyable for all.
Rebecca,
Yes, every class is a bit different. I think all teachers can convey these traits in their own way: upbeat and enthusiastic, patient and friendly, approachable and helpful, willing to listen, commend good work, and keep students posted about their progress.

Corey,
I always try to look at myself from the standpoint of my audience -- what do they see, feel, want, know, think, etc. The more I'm aware of my audience, the better I relate to the students and improve their learning experience.

I believe each instructor has a unique teaching style. However, I have learned that a teaching style must be tailored for each class. In fact, each student, class, and/or course is different than the one you taught before. Do you agree?
