I usually teach an Introduction to Automotive Technology class. The first day is usually kind of mixed with students that think they know everything already and students that have the look of "what did I get myself into" on their face. I am usually very thorough in my explanation and give longer then normal breaks so that the unsure students will ask questions. If they don't, then I still try and joke around with them to get the to feel more comfortable and eventually ask questions. It has seemed to help thus far and the self doubters usually end up… >>>

I teach an electrical class and give students a copy of wiring diagrams. Throughout the class and after explanation I will then provide a scenario. Usually Then I will have a student walk the class and myself through the diagnostic process until find the fault.

I have had a number of students tell me that they have dyslexia. I have found that just listening to the student, working with them, and showing them support goes a long way.

This is a great way for students to get to know the instructor and the students around them. The more my students and myself share about our experiences the more the students seem to learn.

I've never really thought much about the groups my students split into. After reading this though, it explains why my results have been decent at best.

I contact is definitely big. I can really make you and your students feel awkward if your staring them down for an entire class.

When I finally started teaching I was really nervous. I thought that I would have trouble getting through to students and that they would do terrible. However, many students have told me that they love having me as an instructor and that I give them a whole different perspective.

I have found, just like this module states, that listening to angry students really helps. The student just wants someone to hear them out in many cases. Listening really seems to help the students attitude.

I definetly like the idea of breaking unattentive students into groups. It usually seems to jump start their thought process and get them more engaged in the material.

I find that running helps me tremendously with stress. Nothing makes me feel better then a nice 3 mile run outside.
