my goal for teaching is make sure the students learned the professional skills to work successfully in their field. The students must able to retain the information.
Aside from informing, the goal of education should be to prepare students for their careers. Inspiring students through class participation, using relatable material and allowing them to make the connection between theory and practice is important. Students already know that they are in school to "learn" so providing them with the tools that they will need outside of school is key.

I think educating our students provides them with the basic training and foundation that will enable them to expand upon what they learn in the class and lab.
The goal of educating students is to present the material in a way that they can absorb the information for later use. Many students have the ability to learn however, everybody learns differently. For example when I teach accounting classes I make sure that the students know what goes in the respective columns so it will make filling out the balance sheet much easier. Most accounting teachers explain the subject matter like a typical lecture but it is not.
Education is what is left when the learning is over. Hopefully enough of the information provided throughout the course sticks so they our able to apply the newly developed skills throughout their schooling as well as their careers.

A great teacher should love educating students, and one of the principal goals many teachers set for themselves is to be the best educator they can be. There is something extremely gratifying about imparting information to your students and working with them to ensure they understand, not only concepts, but practical applications as well.
