My sense of humor works for me. I keep the course positive and fun while delivering important information. The positive climate allows free discussion with the students.

I would say I am a mix of the Socratic and Drill Sergeant, so I know my students have said I am hard, but fair. I keep them at a level that is challenging and in the end, most come back and thank me for holding them to a higher standard.

Personality is extremely important in choosing a delivery selection. Those who know the material very well and are able to present it without having to read from a slide or overhead and still keep the flow and cohesiveness of the content smooth are excellent presenters. It keeps students interested and makes the "lecture" feel like more of a discussion. I have noticed when students feel lectured to, they lose focus and their mind wanders. If an instructor's personallity is not ideal for Power Point or overhead transparencies, then one has to engage the students with some other form of delivery that relfects the instructor's personality stlye and comfort.

I want to second this opinion. My delivery methods largely depend on the content of the topic and my flexible personality plus long years of experience allow to do these "shift" painless and fun.

My personality plays a big role in my teaching style; I teach through story telling, I move around the room, I get excited about everything; I hope this keeps the students interactive and alive!

My I enjoy teaching a class that allows time for demonstration and hands on experience for the students...This type of instruction fits in with my personality

Instructor's personality plays a role in the resources used to achieve higher academic achievement and enable them to apply what they learn in the future, I like to have a balanced sense of humor in the classroom , its helps a lot .

Hi Rickey:

One thing to keep in mind is the idea of BALANCE when discussing or thinking about personality in the classroom. If there is too much of any personality style, be it too humorous, or too strict, etc., this may serve only to distract the student from a full understanding of the course material.

People skills are perhaps the most important thing a teacher must possess. Ther are those that know their subject buyt cannot impart that knowledge ont others. Each of us has a unique personality and that needs to come across in the classroom. Studnets need to see you as a person as well as a teacher. In this way, they may connect to you and, therfore, learn from you.

I am a pretty animated person. I use powerpoint at my school. This provides a good visual learning experience for the students, as well as getting all the important key facts on the slides. I myself, am visual, so the fact that I am able to teach with visual aide makes me a better instructor. I can be more enthusiastic about my presentation and keep their attention better.

This is probably my favorite topic thus far! I believe it is all about the personality. When I was a child going to school, I recall the greatest lessons learned were those of which derived from my favorite teacher personalities!
