I believe my style is completely different them what students are use to these days. I grab there brain and twist it and show them how to think outside the box.

Develop rapport with learners will give me detailed feedback to further develop my instructional techniques.

Utilizing Max Knowledge courses has been a great way to gain inforamtion for my instructors on how to develop their instructional styles. With a career school, instructors have the technical knowledge but lack teaching skills.

After completing the course, we have great discussions on how to improve our delivery of the material. They usually immediately try the new suggestions that they like from the course and are getting great results.

I am also lucky we have several trainging oppurtunities in our school.

Harvey,
Like your list of ways to expand your expertise and create a professional development plan for yourself. I wish you much success with these efforts.

Working directly with my leader to determine development opportunitiies, compelete s personal assessment on myself and seek feedback from my peers, are the tools I would use to ehance my instructional style.

Carrette,

Christina,
Staying current is such an important part of being an instructor of merit. Instructors need to make professional development an ongoing goal for themselves as they see to impart the latest and most accurate content to their students.

It is of utmost importance that we develop instructional styles that can cater to the multiple intelligences in our classrooms. I go to seminars, I adopt best practices from other instructors, during our power chat sessions we gain a wealth of information, I research instructional styles and experiment with them in my classroom.

I feel that I can refine or enhance my instructional style by keeping current with what is relevant in my field. Many times instructors teach based on only what is in the book, and not actual experience in the field. I believe using both current information, and up to date training can only benefit my students.

The institution that I work for provides opportunities such as this course for professional improvement to help develop my instructional style.

I also find that reviewing my lessons after each class, reflecting on how it went, what went well, and what I could have done better, helps in improving my instructional style

Melissa,
All good hints for instructors to follow as they expand their instructional knowledge, expertise and delivery. The more you know the more options you will have from which to draw.

Research, ask questions, and take advantage of new training opportunities. The more well-rounded we are, the better instructors we become.

It is each instructors responsibility to seek out resources to read or watch that will expand their perspective, but each institution also shares in this responsibility to an extent.

Norman,
Good analysis of your instructional style and how you are developing it to meet the learning needs of your students. You are right on the mark with how you are expanding your expertise.

Jack,
You are in a great position to gain insight into how to develop your own style because you are experiencing your instructors directly while teaching as well. You should gain some valuable growth during your time as an instructor/student.

Franco,
Good points about how your instructional style unfolds as you gain experience. It is a growing experience for sure and one that we instructors need to expand as we develop in our expertise and confidence.

This is my first time formally teaching students. I have trained new employees at my current job as a respiratory thearpist. I believe my teaching style is more "hands on" training. I try to help students apply what they learn in the classroom to the hospital setting. I often share my own experiences to help them get a better understanding.
