Djuna,
This is how you grow as a professional educator. The more we know about instruction the more options we have when it comes to planning our instructional delivery.

Glenn,
You have a very diverse and interactive approach to your instructional delivery. This is what students like as you know because they like variety and change of pace. You are offering both in this format. Keep up the good work.

Jason,
Observing other instructors can be a great way to expand your knowledge of how to deliver content and manage a class. The more observations we have the more options we have from which to chose how we run our own classrooms and labs.

I have found that besides technical training and on line training, watching some of the other instructors helps me develop my style by picking up bits and pieces.

I get a lot of good knowledge from these online courses that I can apply to my classroom. I have a lot of great coworkers and fellow instructors that I can learn from as well. We can brainstorm and discuss learning methods of various students.

in the past I worked for a 4-year institute, so this is my first experience working in a career college. My instructional syle will vary greatly from past courses due to the nature of the degree program. Luckily,I am provided many oporunities to observe other instructors which I think is priceless. To observe students interacting with different instructors has taught me several styles. I can see which style is most effective, and tailor my approach to my classes. I am also provided continuting education opportunities on instructonal styles which allows me to expand my thought process

Attending educational seminars on knowing your teaching style. Also expanding on what you are currently doing to be successful with students

What has helped me in the classroom is to be very creative in how I present information. Some days, I show short videos that pertian to the subject before I go into a lecture. Mostly, I ask open-ended questions that I think that interests them. I try to steer discussions that really outline the chapter. Students don't realize that they are teaching themselves. I generally follow up with an interesting case study and an assignment.

A course like this certainly helps develop/enhance an instructional style. Also, yearly my school has instructors sit in on other instructors classes which helps us learn what others are finding effective.

Jo,
We must continue to grow in our knowledge and expertise no matter how long we have been teaching. This is what professional development is all about.

Continue to take classes that will update and enhance my skills, especially online classes and the use of social media.

Naimah,
Thank you for these wonderful comments. Glad to see that the course is helping you to expand your instructional knowledge and expertise. I wish you much success as you get the opportunity to prepare and shape the careers of your students.

Eric,
Good strategy. Much like a buffet line, pick and chose what you liked and what impacted you and then make those characteristics a part of your own teaching style.

I am lucky that I'm in this class now because I'm a new instructor. I'm very excited about this class because i'm learning so much already. This is the best class ever for a new instructor because it is answering most of the questions that I had. I just want to say thanks to the instructor for this course. I can't wait to see what else i'm going to learn.

To develop your own instructional style, reflect back on your instructors good and bad, you then take the good points from each and develop your own style.

Wendy,
Good way to expand your effectiveness and bring about course improvement.

By reading student feedback and by examining instructional style with keeping up with current events.

KIMBERLY,
Keeping current is critical if you are going to be living up to the standards of your field. By knowing the latest procedures, technologies, and applications in your field you are showing your students your dedication to not only your field but your dedication to their education.
