Planning and Preparation
I like to be prepared before going into class everyday, I feel lost if I have to rush and I am not prepared before class starts, the students know this and sometimes take advantage of this, it also makes the class flow smoother when you are prepared.
yes i agree steven preperation is definitely a key.i think that if we are prepare before class it gives us more time to focus more on the topic than to scramble for materials!
Whether I have taught the class before or not, I always re-read the class content, my notes, and update the materials. I arrive early (30 minutes to an hour) and stay late so students have a comfort of approaching me when others may not be around. The preparation part is so critical for an instructor to ensure they have a clear understandingof the topic. If a question ever arises about what I might not know, then I write it down, find out the answer and start the class with the answer so the students know there is follow-through.
Hi Stephen,
One thing that has helped me with my preparation for class is a simple check list. This keeps me focused even when I have students wanting to talk with me or asking me questions so I make sure I walk into the class with all the materials I need and my mind set for what I need to do that day.
