I use real world instructional aids and job situations that will enhance the learning course for students
B. A.,
I agree with your assessment of the value of having an educational environment that replicates the setting in which students will be working when they graduate. Having such really helps them in making a transition from being students to being professionals in their field.

The school where I teach has three creative programs offered and has a commitment to making the school replicate a professional workplace for creative professionals. The spatial environment is considered important as well as the academic programs. In this context, students have an expectation of what it is like to be working in a professional creative environment at the end of their studies. I think that this concept is very important in developing a positive work ethic.
Peggy,
Yes it should. This way the students will be able to focus on acquiring the needed content as it applies to their different use of their intelligences.

The enviroment in which my students learn should be supportive to the subject with visuals to address the different learning M.I's

Levon,
Yes it is. It is unfair to students if there is not enough equipment and supplies for each student to be able to preform in a class or lab.

It is very important to have enough equipment in the lab, to be able to apply the material covered in the classroom in the lab settings.
I teach in a trade school and it so important to have all of your materials and your environment raedy for whatever process or procedure you are plannnig to instruct. I use my planning and preparation for the space as a tool to help the students understand and prepare themselves
Robin,
I agree because not to have provided them with such experiences is to short change them in terms of the education they are receiving. They need to see the connection between the classroom/lab and the real world. When they do the vale of the course increases greatly.

The role of learning environment is to provide the right resources and tools where students are successful in attaning learning goals.
I think it is important to have all of the equipment available for the students to practice with before sending them on their externship. It shows them exactly what will be expected of them in a real life setting and will make them more confident.
Saneva,
Hands on application increases the value of the content acquired. This is why it is important for students to have many different opportunities to integrate their knowledge and skill acquisition.

being an instructor at a tech college, hands on training is very important. You can read from a text book all day, everyday.
Proper techniques and forms are not able to be developed in a book.. trail and error!
The role of the environments helps establish the right learning experience, sets clear learning objective and influences retention of information delivered during class.
Charles,
Not to have the needed equipment and tools form which the students can learn proper procedures and develop their skills is unfair to the students. Our schools need to remember this as they set up programs.

Christina,
A lab without good equipment or a classroom that is uncomfortable puts the instructor in a tough spot. Your point is a good one about how we need to be aware of how the environment is going to influence the learning of our students.

being in the dental hygiene learning environment, clinics with correct equipment, tools are very important to how students learn.
The learning environment can effect if or what a student learns in your classroom. How we present the information and what possible "distractions" they have directly contribute to what they retain.
Tierra,
The more you can replicate the work place environment the better. This way the transition from classroom/lab to employment will be much easier and more productive for the students.

Melissa,
Students seek safe and comfortable in terms of their learning environment. It is our responsibility to provide such so they can concentrate on the content of the course.
