It's also important to make students feel that they are getting the best education possible. At school we may not have all the latest technology or supplies but we must teach students that if they learn the basic skills they can transfer that knowledge to any environment once they start working. Instructors should avoid negative comments because students pick up on this and those things show up on student surveys.
Environment is so important for setting the right climate for learning. The more relaxed and focused a student is during the learning process the more opportunities will develop for a greater understanding of what ever concept is being presented.

It is important that all students and the instructor can access technologies available. The layout of the classroom should align with the learning.
When the learning environment is comfortable then the students are open and communicate well. The rooms should be clean and the temperature should not be to cold or to warm. The instructor should make all students feel welcome and important.

Distractions shuold be minimized to help students stay focused and the necessary resources shuold be available to meet your teaching methods. I think it is one of the most important factors in the class. I am a new instuctor. I try and make them feel comfortabale. It is a night class, and when some of them get in they are already tired. So I make an attempt to keep things lively when I can. We have power points two days aweek and thats where it gets tough, because they are tired and aren't paying close attention. I even changed the power point presentation to the beginning of the clss instead of the last hour.
AS we talked before the foundation for a successful learning environment is laid on the first day of class.It is important to remember that the environment that you see as instructor may be quet different from the students perspective.To establish a positive and supportive learning environment for my students i try to get to know all of them on an individual level.I also try to help students find personal meaning and value in the material.
I believe in a supportive teaching style. In my own experience a supportive style allows my student increase their interest in the subject, enjoyment in participation, engagement and performance.Supportive teacher behavior has to include active listening and giving hints and encouragement, also instructors have to be responsive to student questions and show them empathy as well.

I think the most basic item of the learning environment is the availability of necessary tools for the course. In a career college, it's necessary to have the tools the students are going to be learning available to each one. If it's an anatomy class, students should have items like skeletons, diagrams of the various body systems, etc. An audio production class should have software, hardware, microphones and keyboards available to work with the material.
In essence, hands on experience is one of the key aspects that often make career colleges different from traditional universities.
It is very important, especially when it is a example of the students future work environment.

Good grief, it's terribly important. If the environment is effective, it tends to be unobtrusive but still powerful. If it's bad, for personality reasons, physical plant, lack of equipment and space, etc. then it dampens even the best of instruction and the most enthusiastic students to the point where learning can seriously suffer.
The learning enviroment helps students better understand their subjective and objective points of view.

One of the critical links in students success is the caring instructor. By knowing that a person in authority cares about student success and progress students realize they have a support system that will enable them to achieve their goals if they will put forth the effort.

The learning enviornment can make a tremendous difference for each person. Some learners will succeed in a smaller classroom setting others it does not matter. All students require a supportive instuctor who wants the student to be sucessful in their course and is providing the proper resources for the course.

Well said. A supportive comfortable environment is essential for students. They need to know that you their instructor is there to help them be successful if they will put forth the effort. If they are going to put forth the effort then nothing is going to help them succeed.

I believe the environment must be conducive to learning but also ensure all students have an opportunity to participate. Classes often have leaders who dominate the class and make it uncomfortable for all students. I try to keep all students involved with activities or voicing their opinions rarely than hearing from a few.
The learning environment is very important, you want your students to feel comfortable and excited about learing.
