introduction
Key to making yourself and your students comfortable in your class and running smooth!!
I agree. I think it is a great ice breaker to know where your fellow classmates are coming from as well your instructor. I have also found it helpful when I am discussing a topic if I know some background on other students to ask how it would work with what they are currently doing professionally. Great way to bring them out as well as they know you listened to them.
I believe allowing students not only to introduce themselves to each other, I have them tell a small story of an accomplishment they have had in their life--many times I will not rembember their name, but I never forget that they, 'saved someone from drowning'.
I also think introductions allow the students an opportunity to get to know a little bit about their classmates as well.
Introductions are a great way to start a new class. This allows students to get to know the instructor and their background experience as well as other classmates before jumping right into business.
