keeping Students Engaged in Learning
I find that in learning by my mistakes, I am motivated because of what I have learned from my mistakes, Ijust want to keep on learning.
Hi Lorna,
Good strategy. I use a lot of case studies with my students as they near the completion of their courses with us. They really like to try out the knowledge and skills they have developed so the case studies give them a chance to apply what they have been learning.

As students progress toward the end of their training I like to put together a Scenario or Problem Based Learning Case where I describe a typical real-life situation (or day in the life of....) with skills and prioritizing needed. And see if they can use critical thinking and good judgement to see if they can choose to handle the heart attack patient before the phone call etc.
I am inspired now to explore different methods of keeping students engaged with their learning process, and with the content of the course. I like the idea that repetition of core concepts can be reinforced through a variety of teaching methods designed to keep the students on a forward path to understanding and retaining the concept.
Having different activities planned throughout the class period to invigorate students learning is very important to engage their attention.
