Tactile Learning Style

I am surprised that such a small percentage of students are tactile learners.

I am in the field of Sonography and for our students it is a requirement to be tactile learners. The problem arises when not everyone can apply, or translate their didactic knowledge to a hands on situation.

Catina,
Many students are tactile learners but this may not be their dominant learning preference. This is why we need to have activities and interaction as a part of our ongoing instructional delivery.

Marc,
You raise a good point and this is why I think problem solving and critical thinking is lacking in many of our students. They need to learn how to think through situations and come up with solutions. This is what they are going to be doing in their work.

I think we've been trained over the years to listen then regurgitate. The idea of doing to learn is foreign to us. We think we are going to get caught doing something wrong.
