There is always a reading, writing, listening, and hands on portion to all lectures.

Abdul,
Very refined way of getting to know the learning preferences of your students. This way you have a clear understanding of how you can plan your most effective instructional activities.

To accommodate my students’ learning differences, I observe them through out the first session and take notes. Then I incorporate in my instructional delivery method. In addition to that I always use lecture, visual, and demonstration which help them to remember or apply the main concept of the chapter objectives.

I get to know learning styles through examination. IF I see students not responding well to one way of learning, then I change it up.

Ruth,
Thank you for sharing these two accommodations you made to facilitate success for this student. Your dedication to her success resulted from you wanting all students to succeed and move toward their career goals.

There was one time when I had a student who needed a signing interpreter. I had to make certain accommodations for this student as her learning style was going to be different than the rest of her class. I accommodated this by setting aside tutorial time, so with her interpreter she could ask questions. Something else that I realized was to add subtext along with the slides to help in accommodating a special needs student.

Becky,
This is a good way to get a baseline on your students. Then you can take the results and shape your instructional delivery to have more impact on their learning.

Taking an assessment at the beginning of the course of all the students helps to understand how they may learn the best.

Nicole,
You are using a very good strategy with your grouping. This method enables you to reach the different learning preferences of your students at different times in the course which leads to a higher level of student engagement.

This can be a difficult process, especially if you are a solo instructor and there are multiple learning styles within one class. I find if you group people together in study groups or clinical groups who have the same learning style, it helps. Not only are they using their preferred method of learning, but another student within their group may have a different take on a task that may help with the learning objective.

in lab phase I use real job situations for students that I have experienced in the field.

Sheretta,
Students like variety and change of pace in their learning delivery. By offering both you are enabling the students to work within their learning preferences and find success in the different phases of the class.

I always take in to consideration of all the different learning types. All people do not learn the same way. Some people learn by text book reading others learn by acting it out, others learn from there pears. I make sure that all my lesson plans are compatable with all learners.

Ronald,
Good way to get a measure of your students and how they are going to perform in the class. This forms the foundation upon which you will do your instructional planning.

To me it all depends on my initial class assessment after the 'meet and greet' I like to discuss methodology and how I intend to deliver the content and after a while you get pretty good at interpreting styles that would be most beneficial to the student outcome.

I implement visual resources, lecture and demonstrative tools to deliver course content.

I feel its important to incorporate several methods of instruction that will capture the majority of learning styles.

We accommodate the different learning preferences of our students by incorporating a variety of learning strategies.

Robin,

We use several learning techniques throughout the course including lecture, case studies, videos, demonstration, and hands-on.

We build on each technique as the class progresses.
