I like to do lecture and then incorporate other learning preferences like visuals or problem solving. I use the phrase "let me scratch your brains" I make them think and all comments are appreciated ,evaluated and until I have them where I want them to be.

Do them all! I lecture and use visual aids as well as a powerpoint presentation. Follow that up with a quiz.

For my stratiges I have asked the class, how do they want to learn, by lecture, playing games, worksheets, etc. So I bend my self to the class learning style, I have used for A & P classes I have used Body Atlas dvd. for medical terminology I have made cards and have had the students make words from the prefix, suffix and combinging forms.

I tend to have my students take the barsch learning styles inventory test the first week of class. it is a great activity for the students to do and it lets them learn for themselves what their learning styles are. I like it since it gives me the opportunity to build course content around their learning styles

To accommodate to the different learning preferences, for my lectures i do power points for my visual and audio and i do read some to help with my audio. I have found that i have quite a few tactile learners so i like to do group hands on activites.

Yes, making the information revelant the students feel that they own it and they may use it in their own lives.

I vary the way I teach "hand-on" pattern drafting techniques. In addition to teaching the students how to draft patterns by doing, I include other methods of teaching pattern drafting. Demonstrating how to make an adjustment. Mini lectures about various drafting tools and how to use them. Showing videos of various drafting techniques. And challenging students with coming up with answers to drafting problems like which flat shape will create a specific styleline or garment.

I utilize a format that reinforces the subject matter through a different mindset, If I am tecaching design, I will also incorporate aspects of music or another subject to relate the information to. I find that if we link a memory to a aural perception we remember far more detail and specifics. Has anyone tried this and what was your experience?

I had out a syballus the first day of class. It outlines my expectations and what to expect in the course. In addition, I let student's know how their course will prepare them for the end result of completing the program.

I try my best to make sure that every day consists of all different learning styles. I try to have the students read some of the material themselves, I lecture some of the material, I demonstraite or show video on some of the material, and I let them apply what they have learned themselves during hands on time. I also constantly ask for feedback as to how effectively they feel they are learning the information. This helps me to determine if i need to present the information in another way in order to get them to fully understand.

Regardless of the subject matter I try to apply the information to the students life. If students see no relevancy in the material they may learn enough for a test or quiz but they soon forget the information. I may ask students what they think about the information or how they feel this information is useful for them. I sometimes tell an interesting or funny story that relates to what we're learning. Anything that engages the students in the material will help them grasp it.

simply I try to include different styles in my teaching as mentioned in the module

Fortunately, math skills are necessary in pretty much every field out there, at least to some degree. Since most of my students are on medical tracks, there are plenty of examples to show students. Sometimes it takes a little extra work to find appropriate examples, especially since I'm not medically minded. One other big way I make real world application is through money related activities which seems to make a lot of cents...I mean sense to most students.

Knowing your Subject and knowing your students (Their level/expertise/ ability etc.) are imperative to implementing relevant course content. Another aspect is you need to ensure your information is current and relevant to the subject matter being taught.

I have made students demonstrate a task or concept in many different environments and conditions. This has shown both them and me that they are able and capable of thinking on their feet and applying the leaned information and adapting to what ever scenario they are faced with. This demonstrates they have a working knowledge and understanding of the material they learned.

Melinda,
Good way to create a foundation from which to operate. From then on it is a building process for engaging the students.

During the first class, i ask the student their self identified learning style. This allows me a starting point to use the most popular styles and then vary the instruction method as the class progresses.

Marshall,
Good way to introduce your personality into the classroom while sharing accurate content with your students.

I always have an answer to to there questions and if not I always have my older books from when I attended college as my back up. My plan is based on the syllabus provided by Intellitec, but I'm able to teach without a book based on experienced lecturing. My students enjoy my humor and teaching abilities without trying to snowball them. I give them references, if asked

When teaching several types of students you have to cover different types of styles. You should offer each type and add special activities to intice each and every student type in the class.
