Sometimes it is important to remember that one student may even be a combination of two different learning styles. I try to bounce back and forth or overlap delivery methods, but find that the most successful format is when we can do two at once. For example, putting students in a group with an activity in which they can record, discuss, or listen.

Hi David- Thanks for your post to the forum. You describe a classroom that is dynamic, with students engaged in active learning. Great work!
Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

As I've gained experience in the classroom, I have attempted to utilize various methods to not only account for different learning styles but also in the delivery of content. I limit my lecture, using PowerPoint slides, to 7-8 slides. I follow up an individual or group activity. Upon completion, discuss among the class. In each class, I assignment a major project, usually in a group setting to allow for teamwork, planning, delegation, etc. I also assign readings outside of class and then allow the students to discuss the readings in groups.

I like this. I also like to combine delivery methods when I am teaching a new hands-on skill. I write the directions on the board and demonstrate the skill while they practice it.
