Kinesthetic Learners

I think that it is very important to understand each students way of learning, but I stuggle with my hands on learners. I teach in a veterinary technology program, and I find that much of my classes are hands on, and my students love that, but when it comes to the technical aspects that they have to memorize for a national boards, I find that these students struggle in recalling the important information. Does anybody have any ideas as to how address this difficulty.

I would try and incorporate as much of the national boards discussion into your hands-on classroom. Every day find a type of test question that they will see and put it up on the board so they can see both how it will be given on the boards exam and how it is done in the course.

HI Cheryl - Thanks for sharing your flash-card ideas - Terrific! Best wishes - Susan

Hi Amy,
Perhaps you could have the learners work on making flash cards that highlight areas that will be tested? The learner has the opportunity to use their hands-on learning style to create the flash card. The learner also has the cards to work through in studying. Very creative learners add some pictures, etc to their flash cards.

Anatomy and physiology courses are quite ideal for the flash card methodology.
