Hands On

As an electrical instructor, I find that there is nothing like having hands on and the tool belt on. My students are having fun and learning. Note: It is very important that they learn from text books on safety and why they do what they do.

I teach photography which is very hands-on as well. I also try to satisfy the other types of learners by assigning reading assignments and having very visual power-point presentations, lectures and discussions. They need to get the camera in their hands and start making mistakes, though, for the real education!

Hi Jessica, Thanks for your post to the forum. Some disciplines are more conducive to hands on activities. I teach mainly General Education classes like Speech, Ethics and Psych. so I also am challenged to find activities that are hands on. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

I too try to do as much hands on activities as I can for my students. I am a very hands on learner and this seems to be the most challenging of the methods to accomplish.

Hi Sandy, Thanks for your post to the forum. I am not sure what specific discipline you teach, but students that are hands on often tend to gravitate to fields that are more hands on. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

I myself am a very hands on person. I often find while teaching in clinical lab class that more and more students seem to be hands on. I often have students in the offie administrative class writing end of term comments how they would enjoy more hands on assignments.

Thank you.
As long as the students continue to recieve hands on, this will make them better residential wiremen.

Hi Paul, Wow that is really terrific! Gives your students a taste of what the field is really like. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

Hands on and field trips. The best for our students. Thankfully here at our campus the director picks up an off-site job and then takes the students and have them participate on doing the job as a lab...
Nothing like showing the students "hand-on"

In my field hands on is very important as it requires very good hands on skills. So although other teaching approaches are used hands on is a must in my learning enviroment.

i love hands on . i find out the students love to do more hands on than theoretical learning.

Hi Paul- Thanks for your post to the forum. Electricity scares me - so I am glad that your students get that emphasis on safety! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
