Performance Testing
As a Instructor in a Technical School I believe Performance (hands-on) testing is a very important part of the testing procedures, this gives the students a balanced out course, they have so many written test, the opportunity to perform a hands-on test gives them the extra knowledge they know the course material.
as an instructor at a Technical school I have found that through repetition the students get better and better. It is hard to actcually grade a student when it may be only the third time they have tried the task.
I agree totally, In Performance (hands-on) testing students know the information and perform the task, thus showing they know the material. However, a written test may confuse them, and make them second guess there answer.
I can agree with you on this, I kept thinking in terms of the drivers test concept. There is a written component, and a skill component. Neither test alone really establishes whether a person can safely drive a car (worse still a motorcycle or airplane),but require the two components to establish a base skill level.
