I love to use a variety of formats. In my onion it "keeps the students on their toes". I use multiple choice, T or F and fill in the blank for test/quizzes. Every week at the end of the week we have a test that i time. In our field the state board exams are in this format. So I am preparing them for the "big" test :)

I use both multiple choice and true/false formats. It tests my students in a way that they have to think before answering, because all questions are not the same. If you continually give test in one format, your students will expect that and get lazy in studying. I think incorporating multiple formats keeps your students on their toes, and pushes them to study the course content a lot more.

There are two different formats that I like to use. true or false, and multiple choices. True or false to verify that the students understand content and multiple choice because I can verify student interpretation of the class fundaments.

I have the freedon to use a variety of test formats in my classes which I believe is a benefits to my learners.

Hi Michael, Thanks for your post to the forum. I also like multiple choice but usually add T/F as well. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

I incorporate all of the testing formats that were in the course. I feel that with the course I teach and the learning styles that we have I want to give my students a sample of all different methods so that they are more prepared for their future classes

I love to use multiple choice test because it's the most widely used selection type test to know more about students understanding the subjects they're learning.
They are easy to grade, and students can be easy structured to require memories or recall the information, data they been study.

Hi Jennifer, I like using all assessment options as well.

on most of my tests I like to incorporate, multiple choice, true/false, matching and fill in the blank. I like to use them all.

I like to use a true or false test them after the test is over go back a see if they can tell me what is wrong about the statement

I also do not get to use my own format. We use multiple choice questions in which the wording is very confusing to students. Some times student"s score do not reflect what they know and don't know.

That's a good question, Brandon. I teach business and I have the same problem. I am often looking for new ways to test my business students.

I try to think as to which format would most effectively and fairly cover the material I have just presented. Frequently, I also find that multiple choice provides the breadth of coverage. I also often use completion tests and pose short answer questions.

I don't have the freedom either to choose my tests, I do have the freedom on the quizzes. I try to use all components and end with an essay question.

I select the format that will best measure the students' knowledge and the success of my lesson objectives.

Depending on what subject that my class is in dictates the type of testing that I use . In the tech world it is better to use the multiple choice questions due to the wide range of subject matter that is covered.

I don't have the freedom either in my situation to choose. I think this hurts my students grades. I had the freedom at my previous employer and it made a difference. I am the only one who knows the material covered.

Mixing objective testing with subjective could be the best way to test students

I prefer to do use multiple choice, fill in the blank when I give out a test.

I personally really love multiple choice questions I've always felt more comfortable with this style of testing it also covers a veriety of info for content. I also like using essay questions it gives students the opportunity to express the level of insight they've acquired.
