Testing

I like to make tests with lots of different types of questions. This tends to work well for the students. Some may excel on certain types of question while not doing so well on other types. It tend to give a better reflection of what a student has learned and what still needs to be covered more.

yes this seems to get the best results for the class for there knowledge gained

Hi Annette- Thanks for your post to the forum. Using case studies really helps students to learn to apply what they have learned to what they will encounter in the workplace. Excellent! Best wishes - Susan

I like to present a case study to test the students knowledge on a subject. This requires them to apply the knowledge to a real life experience.

Well said. I think it also gives an opportunity to different types of learners to display their strengths.

I agree. I have found that varying the types of questions seems to proive a much better result in terms of assessing learning and not just test taking techniques or memorization

I agree, Phyllis. Not olny differnt types of tests, but different types of assessments (papers, portfolio of current events, presentation, etc.) help different students show me what they've learned.
