All in one

When I write my tests, I try to include various types of questions. I usually mix T/F with essay and short answer to get a good mix.

I AGREE WITH CHRISTOPHER THAT A MIXTURE OF QUESTIONS MAKES FOR A BETTER EVALUATION OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE.

i tend to do the same but i also give verbals when in a clinical class. they are standard for all but i mix up the questions and word them different so people will not remember

Most of the time I use tests included in teacher's manual. What I prefer to offer is a mixed test consisted of 1/3 multiple choice questions, 1/3 true/false and 1/3 essay. This combination gives me a chance to test my students' knowledge, skills and abilities

Hi Aimee - Thanks for your post to the forum. I also try to vary the assessment types in the tests that I write. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

I think that it is important to incorporate different types of questions into exams. This allows for different comfort levels for students. Since they prefer different types of questions you are giving a variety of opportunities.

Debra,

That is a great deal to implement multiple types of testing questions. I have also added discussion questions at the end to evaluate their writing skills and to put their thoughts into words.

To me a varation off all can help me see where the student need more delopment

I include different types of questions in my tests as well. I mix steno and English outlines to assure the student is knowledgeable in both areas. I'm a court reporting teacher and this is very important.

Hi Debra - Thanks for your post to the forum. You are using diverse assessments which is great. Even better, is that you are using the data from those assessments to plan the final exam! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

When testing I use true/false. matching, fill in the blank, and multiple choice. I find this very helpful identifing what information I need to review with the students again, before the final exam.

Debra
