turning negative to positives
Students will often focus their attention on the negatives and what the barriers are to being successful. Leading them into how they can overcome those barriers starts to turn their thoughts into a positive direction.
I love the Negasaurus idea. I sometimes teach a course for first term students where positive self-talk is an important concept. It can be difficult for students to make that jump if they are accustomed to being negative, especially toward themselves. Next time I teach that, I will try the Negasaurus.
No matter what kind of day I'm having, I never have a bad day in front of my students. Since I teach courses to future health care providers, I remind them that they need to keep the same perspective. Because, no matter how bad they think they have it, at least they are on the healthier side of the bed rail once they get to clinical practice! I think, as students they adopt a more positive outlook if they are reminded to.
Yes I agree with this statement. As I find with all people, the negative will be the 1st to focus on if given the opportunity. I always try to focus on the positive in anything and this especially holds true in the teaching industry.
I always try to redirect my students when they are venting negatively . I also try to give them different alternative to their negative behavior and talk about positive solutions.
I always reply back with a positive when a student is negative and direct in a positive why so that they will think before using a negative.
