using eye conact, watching their facial expressions to see if they are grasping the concepts.

Eye contact with body language and facial expressions work quite well. By watching the students face and mannerisms you can pick up if they are, or are not understanding the subject at hand. By using these methods along with moving around the room I have found that they're quite successful to gauge the students understanding of the subject.

Moving around the classroom works best for me.

I like to make a statement then pause for a few moments then add a phisical movement to see if any one responds to the statement or comment.

i'm a very animated person and move around and use visual and sounds to ephamsize points or become the item i'm trying to explain!

I try to move around the room while I'm talking. When I'm finished or if I'm loosing their attention I just stop and stand there quietly. They always notice and look to see what has happened. This gets their attention again. I also pass around examples of the components I'm talking about and let them have a chance to talk about what they are seeing and holding. I wait to go on while they finish. This is to insure that they know that I expect input from them. It works.

I myself like to move around the room so the students have to follow, also you should make eye contact so they think you are giving them personal instructions.Another way is your facial expressions.

Hi James!

Love it! You have clearly found a way to communicate with all types of learners. I really like an instructor who uses multiple styles of communicating with students. The one thing that you did not mention is whether you move around or not.

I like to move around when discussions are going on 1) keeps me focused and 2) reenforces students' ideas and opinions.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Errol!

Sometimes just saying nothing can get a point across. Because students are caught off guard, they often start a dialogue.

I use the whole room, I use the front of the room the most.also when lecturing,I use the 1-3 second stare, I look at each student, then ask who agrees or who disagrees with what i just stated. My most valuable communication skill is the white board.after a lecture topic I will ask questions or answer questions if something is not clear to one or many students, I say nothing and draw the concept or answer on the board and when finished I turn and look at each student individually and then ask does this clear things up. sometimes I get applause. It's great.

When i employ this type of communication it makes things more interesting. The students are forced to observe me more intently in order to figure out what i want them to do. Sometimes it is more effective than verbally stating the instructions to the task at hand.Standing there directing them with gestures and facial expressions makes things more interesting and breaks the monotony of a lecture.

My facial and voice seem to be my most successful nov verbal communication skills, I move around the room alot and I make eye contact as well, this keeps the student awake and concentrating on what is being lectured on.

Hi William!

Eye Contact is so meaningful for classroom succeses. Students like to know that the instructor is interested in them and their learning. It is also very gratifying for instructors to know that they are connecting with students. Everyone in the classroom is a team.

Keep up the good work!

Eye Contact. One I can see if the student is still strugling with the concept. Two, the student knows that I want them to learn what I am trying to explain to them.

My most successful nonverbal communication skills are my facial expressions. I often get good feedback simply buy the look I give a student. By using this method I often engage the students in questioning why I reacted the way I did.

I find that moving around the classroom and the eye contact that can be meade with all of the students is the best way to communicate with the students in a non verbal way

Hi John!

Moving around is a great way to stay connected with students. Even the most unattentive student seems to stay better connected.

Keep up the good work!
