Slow learning

What should I do about someone who is slow learning but does not have a learning disability.

Hello,
I always have slow learners due to the fact that I teach science and not everyone has the aptitude to learn the material. I have to be very creative in what I present to my students. Being lively helps and trying to make it fun and interactive.

Tutors are a great suggestion.

Great ideas, any help we can offer these students is valuable. It might also be helpful to share notes with the student so they can fully focus on the lecture/discussion.

If you notice that a student is having difficulity learning at the same pace as the rest of the class, schedule a time for the student to come and speak with you.
Identify specific ways in which you can empower the student to understand the context of the course work. Perhaps spending some additional time with the student as well as offering names of some tutors who could be of further assistance would be beneficial.

Try to determine what is the background issue involved in the slow learning. This can be done by a personal interview with the student. Spend time before the interview to develop some basic questions and be prepared to change the format of the interview if necessary.
