In teaching Psychology I often ask students to compare and contrast Psychology with Pseudo Psychology and relate this to their decision making process.
I also ask them compare the Cognitive Perspective to the Behavioral Perspective and to describe which of these perspectives most influences their own behavior and why.
In addition, I ask them to compare child rearing practices in China, Russia and Canada for example to child rearing practices in the United States and to comment on what they perceive to be the positives and negatives of each practice.

In marketing comparisons are common. Customers compare products in order to determine which is best. However, not all customers have the same taste so what is perfect for one customer may not be perfect for another.
