Personality types
Gary, Do different personality types need to be taken into consideration when teaching/adapting a leson plan for adult learners? For instance. my wife prefers abstract and emotional ways to learn things and I prefer more logical step-by-step methods.
learning types in the class room are so important for you attempt tp bring out in which your teaching will approach so many more students.
I agree. Most students use a combination of learning types whether they are aware of it or not. I usually start off a new class with an exercise to attempt to identify what their learning style or type is. Many of them feel empowered by this knowledge and tend to approach the subject matter with more confidence.
Charlene,
This is one of the challenges as well as opportunities of being an instructor. Identifying the different personalities and learning preferences and then customizing instruction to reach the different students. When you see that happening it is such a great feeling because you know you have met the learning needs for that class.

This question reminds me of the different types of learners...kinesthetic, visual, or auditory. To me, personality reflects learning style and, therefore should guide the presentation of educational material into all formats.
Evan,
You can offer instruction in the different delivery formats understanding that individuals will process that information in a personal way. We all internalize information differently so the more we can understand where our students are coming from the better we will be able to meet the learning needs of the individual personalities that are represented in our classes.
